The purpose of this Speed-gram is to clarify some policy and procedures relating to the purchase of the Skipper's Safe Boating Course product line through Mosby Lifeline. A few promotional tips for the distribution of the Skipper's Safe Boating Course are included as well.
You must provide Mosby with an accurate district, division, and flotilla number to have your order processed correctly, and to receive the Auxiliary's 55% discount. District Commodores have a three-character designation, e.g., 02E, 05N, etc. Division Captains have a five-character designation, e.g., 01N-02-06, 02S-11-08, etc. Flotilla members do not have to supply their personal numbers, just district, division, and flotilla number. Auxiliarists who are unsure of their proper designation may contact Clyde Hungerford, Comptroller of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary National Board, Inc., for assistance. Clyde can be reached at (301) 261-4245.
Some districts, divisions, and flotillas are tax-exempt, some are not. If your unit is tax-exempt, you must provide Mosby with a copy of your state tax-exemption certificate. (You will need to do this only once.) It will be kept on file at Mosby for Internal Revenue Service (IRS) purposes. Otherwise, applicable sales tax will be charged.
As you are aware, two FREE brochures are available to help promote the Skipper's Course to your constituents. Auxiliary units are charged for shipping and postage charges.
